About This Activity

Four sessions: Thursdays, October 27; November 3, 10, 17 Aquinas Hall G9 In this four-week course, we will read short stories by the Nobel Prize winner Alice Munro, and the less well known, but critically acclaimed author Edith Pearlman. Both writers explore and describe the lives of “ordinary” people who are far from ordinary when looked at through the lens of empathy and extraordinary writing. We will spend two weeks with each author, discussing stories from Munro’s collection Hateship, Friendship, Courtship Loveship, Marriage the first two weeks, and Pearlman’s Binocular Vision the last two weeks. Specific stories will be assigned for each week’s readings.
