About This Activity

Students will learn how to play the recorder and will be invited to take their instruments home to practice. They will work as individuals and in group settings to make music. Overarching topics covered will include but will not be limited to: music literacy, ensemble playing, movement, and improvisation. STEPHANIE NANTELL is in her 5th year as a full-time elementary music teacher in NYC. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Rollins College, her primary instruments are voice and trumpet. While living in Orlando, Stephanie worked as a trumpet player at Walt Disney World, and performed in local elementary schools in a show about positive character traits for Radio Disney. Stephanie also has two Masters from NYU; a Master of Arts in Music Education and a Master of Music in Trumpet Performance. While at NYU, Stephanie taught as a private trumpet instructor for NYU undergraduates (non-music majors), tutored with America Reads, and worked as a digitization assistant in the archives department of the New York Philharmonic. Since graduating from NYU, Stephanie has pursued her Level I Certification in both the Kodaly and Orff Methodologies.
