Dragonflies by nature are busy, curious creatures. They dart around the forest investigating all the nooks and crannies of the natural world. They might be found resting on a log, and then all of a sudden, they're off in a blast checking out the sights, sounds, smells of the forest! In this spirit, we have named our 4-6 year old summer program to be reflective of this active creature. As a dragonfly, your child will be exploring, discovering, and playing outside. There is a heavy focus on naturalist skills accompanied by sensory development. The best way to view the forest is with all senses working together. The children will learn how to use their deer ears, owl eyes, raccoon touch, dog nose and fox walking to move through the forest. Another large component to dragonflies is nature play. This program creates space for children to have unstructured play that is accompanied by core staff & crew while in nature. Nature play is a great opportunity for children to lead themselves in their own creative play, or learn to lead others to unify their imaginations. This is essential to every young child's social, emotional, and creative development... and it's fun!
