Learning about nature is fun at any age, especially as seen through the eyes of preschoolers! Our By-the-Sea program is a fun morning (indoors) of stories, creative play, art and a healthy snack. The morning is casual and very family-friendly, and a great way to build an early connection to nature. Program meets for 5 classes; no class Nov. 11 or Nov. 25. Each week, we'll read a story, learn about the day's theme, have independent play and visit the animals in our saltwater touch tank. Class size is limited to 10 kids. Programming fills the first 45 to 60 minutes, with the last 30 minutes left for open play. Some kids are ready to depart after an hour, while others love to linger longer. (Infant and toddler siblings welcome at no additional cost.) Kids participate at their own pace, and we find it is equally successful for our very youngest friends ages 2 to 3, who tend to focus more on the exploratory play, as for older children, nearing age 5, who are more engaged in the day's story and lesson. While each class has a definite structure and pace, we are intentionally casual and encourage kids' to follow their curiosity and proceed at their own style.
