OBJECTIVES: In addition to helping children orient to a water environment, this program teaches water adjustment and basic swimming skills. These classes are held without parents and require the children to be ready to participate independently of their parent in a group setting. Children will develop an awareness of their own bodies, acquire a feeling of independence, gain a sense of success and increase their self-esteem.
PIKE: Beginner 1
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: This class is designed for the preschool beginner who has limited or no experience in the water or is apprehensive. Children participate without a parent and work on adjusting to the water, floating, kicking and paddling on their front/side/back, blowing bubbles, putting their face in the water, learning about pool and boating safety, while exercising and having fun!
REQUIRED SKILLS TO PARTICIPATE: Readiness to be away from their parent, able to follow instructions, and able to safely participate in a group setting.
