FILM ACTING CAMP (Ages 8-11) Campers spend Monday & Tuesday learning the technique of acting for the camera and how film acting differs from acting on stage. They will practice hitting their marks, finding their key light, learn the different types of crosses and work on adjusting their performance for the lens, instead of in a theatre. They will also be assigned two scenes starring them; one comic and one dramatic. Wednesday through Friday, campers will film the scenes and learn the rigors of acting in a motion picture, while working with industry professionals. When other scenes are being shot, campers serve as crew members for the production. They hold the boom mic, serve as assistant camera and other key jobs on set, all learning the different elements of what goes into a film production. These scenes will be shot with professional film, lighting and sound equipment, and edited by professionals, creating up to a 2-minute demo reel per camper. The Film Acting Camp wraps Friday evening, but the camp instructors go quickly to work on post-production, spending Friday night and all day Saturday editing the footage into finished products. Saturday night, campers are joined by their families for a Red Carpet Premiere screening of their work: 20 different demo reels, each around 60-90 seconds. Cost for camp is $695. Price includes all lunches, a camp t-shirt, personal swag bag and a DVD of the finished film, blooper reel and a special Behind-The-Scenes documentary short of the camp. On Saturday night, all campers and their families are invited to a Red Carpet Premiere of the demo reels they created, shown on the 120-inch big screen in Studio 2. Campers arrive by limousine (provided by HNR Limousines), and will be joined by camp leaders and instructors of Factory adult classes and invited industry guests. DVDs of the finished product, along with behind-the-scenes and blooper reels, will be available for each child three weeks after camp.
