It is designed especially for anyone who wants to learn more about ASL and Deaf Culture, including ASL and interpreting students, hearing people with deaf family members, etc.The goal of this program is for campers to have a unique, exciting summer experience, and to have FUN! A team of Deaf and hearing staff who are ﬂuent in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture will serve as camp staff. There will be activities, games, crafts, and guest presenters. Camp Mark Seven offers activities such as swimming, hiking, side trips, tubing, outings, and bonﬁres! This program welcomes Deaf and hard of hearing campers, regardless of their skill level in ASL, though the camp is a primarily an ASL environment. Campers are encouraged to use and learn ASL while at the camp to communicate with other campers and with staff, and not to use their voices. Camp Mark Seven offers a unique setting where campers have an opportunity to meet successful Deaf role models, hearing adults with Deaf parents and family, and other members of the Deaf community. This program is one of a kind at Camp Mark Seven, offering an ASL immersed environment that helps participants develop their language skills and at the same time have lots of fun at the camp!
