In this Sparkiverse-only class, coding meets the real world of game building. Students love to be challenged and see their accomplishments. So we’ve bundled that excitement into an amazing new class. We start by teaching students coding fundamentals. Then we challenge them to use these skills to build their own games on their own PocketCHIP. It’s seeing their code in action that made this a summer camp favorite. And now we’re rolling it out to our afterschool classes. Students build their game on PocketCHIP - sourced by Sparkiverse straight from KickStarter. What’s PocketCHIP? It’s a handheld game console ($49 list price) powered by CHIP, the world’s first $9 computer chip. At the end of the session, they can bring home this own amazing and tiny computer so they can take their accomplishment anywhere - literally! Throughout the term, students: Learn about key topics such as conditional statements, functions, and loops Apply this knowledge to use Pico8 to get a start in the Indie Gaming world Build their own retro-games by writing their own code It doesn’t matter how much or how little experience your student has in coding or game building. As long as they like playing games, they will love this class. Summer campers can bring their PocketCHIP for more game building!
