ASPire stands for After School Program: imagine, reach and explore. Why the new name? We have changed the name to ASPire because it describes the goal of the work we do, namely providing opportunities for children to imagine their futures, reach beyond their comfort zones and explore new experiences. Beginning this fall, ASPire participants will begin most afternoons with a 15- to 20-minute "experience." On some days, ASPire will welcome individuals both from within the GFS community and from other parts of the Philadelphia region. On other days, ASPire will feature handy lessons in specific life skill such as how to sew a button or write a thank you note. Of course, ASPire will continue to feature the same array of choice activities that long have been the hallmark of the ASP experience, including theme-based art and cooking projects, outdoor play, construction with Legos and K’Nex, computers, and supervised homework time. We invite your child to join the ASPire Team for all of the fun and exciting programming we have planned for the coming year!
