Step beyond the frame in this two-day digital art and augmented reality (AR) workshop inspired by paintings and prints from the PAM exhibition Yoshida Chizuko. Guided by Teaching Artist Fry and Creative Technologist Sonya Neunzert, participants will use the digital illustration tool Procreate, an AR app, and an iPad to create drawings and short animations that bring museum artworks to life. Day One: We’ll begin with a behind-the-scenes visit to the Chizuko exhibition, where participants will select an artwork that sparks their curiosity. Youth will practice sketching, animating, and layering their creations onto the original artwork. Day Two: Participants will activate their work using AR technology, exploring how emerging tools can expand creative storytelling and shape the future of artmaking. Why sign up? By the end, each student will have created a one-of-a-kind augmented reality artwork. Following the workshop, PAM staff will install QR codes linked to participants’ digital creations with prints and drawings in the exhibition, offering museum visitors, family, and friends the opportunity to see our AR blend of art and innovation.
