Develop an understanding of what glazes are and how to use them successfully. We'll cover a variety of application techniques, safety issues, glaze problems, what to consider when deciding which glaze to use, and properties that are unique to each glaze. All of the studio's primary glazes will be covered, in addition to stains and washes. Create or expand your own set of test tiles to use as a visual reference in the future.
This class is designed for both glazing beginners and those who have taken glazing previously. Prior clay experience required. Does not include instruction on hand and wheel basics. Students cannot miss first class.
All ceramics students are required to read and follow the Ceramics Studio Policy. It contains information about students responsibilities and studio safety. Please read it by your first class. Copies are available online, at the MAC office and posted in the clay studio. By registering for a class or signing up for open studio, you are agreeing to follow studio policy. Thank you!
