Sewing - Upcycle Sewing Skills
May 05 - Jun 02 (Tuesday)
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Sellwood Community Center
From May 05, 2015 to Jun 02, 2015
Each Tuesday from 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM
Whether you've never touched a machine before, haven't sewn in years, or just want to review the fundamentals, this one is for you! Learn a variety of basic skills such as how to thread a machine & wind a bobbin, uses for different stitches & sewing curved and straight seams, making a casing, constructing a pocket, finishing edges & hemming. Test your new skills by constructing projects like a market bag, apron, or skirt. Masterfully crafted by YOU!
We prefer that you bring your own seewing machine, however, we have a limited amount of machines available. Call 503-823-3195 to see if there is a sewing machine available.
In this second session we will brainstorm ways to creatively refashion your thrift shop finds (or just those clothes in your closet that aren't quite right for some reason.) Add a pocket, applique, or different style feature. Use some elastic, change the sleeve or reclaim the fabric for a whole new use! Here is your chance to clean your closet out and actually wear those clothes. Basic sewing skills required. Bring your own sewing machine or borrow one from the instructor.
