Improve your ability to make the team and then make the team better at this challenging, fun-filled camp. Players, grouped by age, receive instruction in the fundamentals of the game, and the virtues of a sportsman. Each boy competes in individual skill contests and team play. The week culminates in an awards ceremony honoring the outstanding campers of the session. Guest speakers, including college athletes and coaches, enhance the instruction at the camp. Younger players receive instruction in the fundamentals—from the backdoor cut to the layup, from boxing out to scoring with the game on the line. Older boys sharpen their skills for high-level competition; they learn strength training techniques specific to basketball to increase explosiveness and quickness and to prevent injury. The Cavaliers basketball camp is a great place to learn the game and to prepare for the demands of varsity basketball in the Washington area. Staff Austin Hatch, Head Varsity Basketball coach at The Heights, directs the camp.
