About This Activity

Learn the Royal Game the fun way! At Chess Camp, every hour is informative, and yet avoids the dryness of rote instruction. We provide boys with interactive lessons, individual matches, helpful principles, and much more than simply playing games for hours on end. Whether learning the game for the first time or looking to master it, boys ages 6-13 can enjoy the Game of Kings and all of its auxiliary benefits, including logic, prudence, patience, forethought, evaluation, and analytical skills. Most importantly, activities will take place in an\enjoyable environment with thoughtful instruction. Far from sitting in front of a chess board all day, the campers will also enjoy some sports, story reading, and time outside. Come enjoy one of the oldest and greatest games with friends and fun. Come learn how to beat your dads… and chess teachers! Sample Activities: - Instruction in Strategies and Tactics - Playing over great matches of the past masters - Games and a week-long Tournament Staff Tom Steenson, 5th-grade teacher and chess enthusiast. Contact Tom Steenson at The Heights School, tsteenson@heights.edu Notes Usual dress is normal summer attire Campers should bring a bag lunch and drink from home.
