"We will work on recognizing and strengthening executive functions/skills (the fundamental brain-based abilities needed to, among other things, get and stay organized, stay focused, and control impulses and emotions). We will learn about how these relate to confidence, independence and living up to potential now and in the future. Students will learn about their own strengths, weaknesses, and styles, as well as resources to continue building upon what we started in this class. Instructor: Audra Eckes Audra grew up on Long Island. After earning an MS in Deaf Education, she worked as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing in NYC, Long Island, and Maryland. She moved to NC in 2007 for her career but wound up becoming a bonus mom to a child who eventually needed to be homeschooled. So, in 2014, a new “teaching”/learning adventure began. Besides learning, Audra’s other interests include reading, writing, photography, dog rescue, and spending time with her grandson.
