This camp is open to all ages without previous tennis experience. Players will have the opportunity to learn basic tennis skills that can be used throughout their playing careers. Each day players will learn new skills in a way that will make it fun to improve. Throughout the week, they will learn the fundamentals of tennis including: groundstrokes, serves, volleys, and score keeping. Players will learn tennis skills in a very encouraging environment. The daily schedule will consist of drills, competitive games, one on one time with coaches, and pool time. Each activity will encourage players to get right back on the tennis court and play more. After this week, campers should feel confident with the fundamentals of tennis and want to continue with the sport. Hannah Jones, a member of the Saint Mary's School class of 2016, will be leading this summer's Tennis Academy. She has been playing tennis since she was a young girl and has a passion for this sport. Hannah has been on the SMS Varsity tennis team for three years and is also involved with many extracurricular activities in and outside of school. Hannah attended a tennis academy for four consecutive years. This is her third summer as an assistant coach for Saint Mary's Tennis Academy and she is excited to lead the tennis program this summer. When Hannah was a child she too attended the Saint Mary’s tennis camps and absolutely loved them. “The SMS tennis camps are a fantastic way to continue your passion for tennis and really get a feel for the Saint Mary's campus.” Hannah is eager to give back to the Saint Mary’s community and coach these camps with several other assistant coaches. She was one of four SMS students chosen to run a Summer at Saint Mary's program.
