About This Activity
The plan: is simple. The objective: to master the 5-paragraph essay. The method: polish grammar; learn the steps to create a 5-paragrah essay; begin by mastering a well-written sentence, progress to a well-written paragraph, and finish with a well-written essay. Easy Peasy. I like to keep my classes fun and engaging with learning games, puzzles, and activities. I find that the students engage and learn so much better when they are having fun. This is especially key for these important, but somewhat, shall we say, dry topics. Before starting this class, students should have at least a 6th grade reading level. Ideally, they would already have a firm grasp of basic grammar, but if we need, as a whole, to do some grammar work we will.
