Forensic Science is a hands-on, laboratory and project-based learning course that will guide students through the foundations of law and criminal justice, the history of forensics, and modern scientific advancements in the field. Students will study hair, fibers, DNA, ballistics, serology, poisons, drugs, arson, explosions, fingerprinting, forgery, and entomology in detail. The course emphasizes the scientific method, data analysis, and the powers of observation and critical thinking needed to solve problems. This course acknowledges the growing interest in careers within the sciences, medical field, engineering, and law enforcement, all of which intersect with the study of forensic science. Furthermore, the foundational aspect of this course will prepare students for college-level courses in physical sciences. Instructor: Beck Fahey Dr. Beck Fahey is a passionate scientist who teaches a variety of classes at THE, covering everything from biochemistry to basketball and even cooking! She truly hopes her students develop a love for learning and eagerly shares her knowledge of science and education with the next generation. In her downtime, she enjoys exploring healthy foods, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her beloved cats and the great outdoors.
