Travel back in time with us as we deep dive into Homer's The Odyssey. In addition to reading and evaluating the ancient epic we will investigate the many ways our culture is still impacted and influenced by it. We will use various interpretations in our studies, including the very popular music composed by Jorge Rivera-Herrans. Students will need a copy of Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey. Additionally, they will need to have access to a computer at home that has both a word processing application (Google Docs is fine) and internet access. This is a transcript worthy class; for those who wish to have a transcript grade, I will provide a first and second semester grade, as well as, a class description and narrative of the student's performance at the end of the year. Homework will consist of reading the selections each week and various forms of comprehension checks.
