Music Changing Lives plans on achieving the goal of helping youth build a better tomorrow by teaching them how to become entrepreneurs in the music industry. The MCL class will facilitate a recording studio, used to teach youth the basics of recording and producing quality music. Once participants complete 900 hours of instruction, individuals will be able to take the test to become a digi design certified engineer. The community center will also offer , academic tutoring, time management skills, self empowerment training, manners & etiquette, artistic expressions through music, drama and poetry, salesmanship, financial planning, including the importance of credit and financial investments, along with a variety of other positive enrichment tools. MCL feels that by keeping the youth interested in education, we can encourage them to stay in school.
The Music Changing Lives program offers the following:
- Tutoring for children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Tutoring is provided by college students from local colleges.
- Music Production, where students will create and record their own music onto a CD.
- Art Appreciation, where students will create and showcase their artwork.
- "Chick Chat," where girls "want to be a place that teaches to appreciate, love, and accept themselves individually and in turn how to appreciate, love, and accept the world around them or change what cannot be accepted..." Held every Tuesdays at 4:30pm.
