About This Activity

This course is the 1st session of the Intro to Coding Course. Kids will learn how to program (Code) using Scratch, an event-driven visual drag & drop programming language developed by MIT Media Lab and learn fundamental concepts of product development. Scratch is a technology that allows kids to learn computer programming with little typing or memorization of complex syntax. Kids will program by snapping together graphical blocks without having to learn any of the obscure punctuation and syntax of traditional programming languages. Scratch is an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use programming language. Fundamental programming concepts and best practices will be introduced as kids develop interactive computer programs. Kids will learn to think creatively and solve problems. Throughout the entire course kids learn how to bring their own ideas from inception to realization in a structured way using best practices of product development.
