Equestrian vaulting combines elements of gymnastics and dance performed to music on a moving horse. The horse moves in a circle on a longe line and is controlled by a longeur. Vaulters begin on stationary barrels and progress to performing on the horse at the walk and trot; experienced vaulters perform at the canter. The club emphasizes horsemanship, safety, team-building, communication skills, fitness, and relationship between vaulter and horse. Woodside Vaulters, founded in 1990, is one of the largest and most successful vaulting clubs in the United States.
INTRO TROT This class develops comfort on top of the horse. Participants explore the horse?s movement and learn be comfortable on horseback in different directions. This class is a great way to introduce children to horses, improve riding skills or take gymnastics or dance skills to a new level. All classes include stretching, fitness exercises, and horse safety. No prior horse experience necessary
What to wear? You should wear the following to class: Ballet, water, tennis, vaulting shoes or other soft shoes T-shirt with shorts, leggings, or sweat pants and bring layers if it?s cold outside (clothes should not be too loose). Long hair should be pulled away from the face with longer hair in a ponytail or bun.
