About This Activity

The Algebra course is comprised of a brief introductory unit to refresh students of pre-algebraic concepts before reviewing nine major algebraic topics: solving, graphing, and writing equations; solving systems of equations; solving inequalities; writing and graphing functions; exponential and monomial expressions; polynomials; and quadratic equations.  The refresher portion of the class will remind students how to manipulate integers and absolute value, simplifying expressions using order of operations, and evaluating algebraic expressions. Our first unit, solving equations, will cover solving multi-step equations, including those with fractions and variables on both sides. We will graph equations through an understanding of slope as the rate of change. We will write linear equations in their various forms including slope-intercept, standard, and point-slope. We will solve systems of equations, particularly those with connections to real world problems.  We will also cover such topics as quadratic, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions.
