We will be knitting a basic, top-down cardigan using an Aran weight yarn. This pattern is accessible to first-time sweater knitters, but is also a favorite of more advanced knitters! You should be familiar with casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, reading a basic pattern, and binding off. A materials list will be emailed to each student prior to the start of class. Instructor Karen Vellekamp is a retired math teacher who has been knitting for forty years. She taught herself to knit after finishing college. Her specialty is making sweaters; and her winter wardrobe consists almost exclusively of her knitted garments and accessories. She is also quite skilled at fixing mistakes in knitting (which is handy since she makes a lot of them) and often helps others with their knitting "disasters."
