We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Monday, November 7, 2016.
Ballet 1 is a continuation of fundamentals learned in Pre-Ballet, with a stronger focus on building technique. Students are introduced to barre work, and learn more complex movements and techniques, but still explore movement concepts such as space, time, rhythm and shape through games, props, and partner work. This class also draws from the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, and is perfect for dancers who are ready to take the next step in their ballet training.
Attire: pink or black tights with a solid color leotard. Ballet shoes required. Hair should be pulled away from the face.
Instructor: Katrena Cohea has been dancing for over twenty years and teaching for over ten. She received her early training with Jeanie Pors at Benicia Ballet School, studying the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus. She is a member of the RAD, and has completed their Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS). She holds a B.A. in Dance from CSU East Bay, where she received training in jazz and hip hop. She danced with the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance for 4 years and was an apprentice and company member of Brisas de Espana Flamenco and Spanish Dance Company for 3 years.
