Makers Crew: Soap Box Cars Join in the “Maker” movement emphasizing learning by doing and encouraging creativity, invention, and innovation. Over the series of courses students work together to design, model and build a Soap Box Car. Soap box cars are vehicles that use gravity to move. Learning safe tool usage, drawing schematics, building and testing, and plenty of tinkering will all be a part of creating the final product. This program is ideal for the student who loves to tinker, is creative, and has had some experience in “making”. CuriOdyssey educators will provide guidance and support to our young “Do It Yourselfers” (DIY) and students will enjoy an authentic hands-on science and engineering practices that develop important critical thinking skills. A culminating field trip to Maker Faire on Friday, May 18 will be an exciting way to conclude the program and experience the maker movement in a remarkable way.
