About This Activity

Our after school rock band is a 12-week program for girls ( but don't let the term rock band scare you off - these girls write whatever genre of music they want to). Students attend instrument lessons (Choosing between drums, guitar, bass, or keys. Already play an instrument like violin or cello and want to join a band? No problem! Just bring your instrument and jump on board - our coaches can help you), form a band, collaboratively write an original song, participate in workshops, record in a professional recording studio and perform with their band at a sold-out, live showcase at Soho Music Club in Santa Barbara. The Girls Rock program teaches girls to be confidant in who they are, to know they are enough in all that they do, and to follow their passions -whatever they may be. We recruit instructors from the world's leading music conservatories and while they are extremely talented musicians and teachers - they are even more incredible human beings and mentors. WHO: Girls in 7-9. All musical experience levels are welcome and we provide all of the instruments. No prior musical experience is necessary. Girls 16+ can participate in our high school intern program and earn community service hours mentoring our younger girls.
