About This Activity

Here’s an opportunity for your kids to become farm kids for the week. Every day we’ll feed and brush the goats and Lizzie the llama, and bottle feed the spring babies. We’ll see the chickens and collect eggs, and we’ll spend time in the garden as well. Understanding where your food comes from and how to cook with those ingredients is a big focus of the week and we will be cooking everyday. We’ll eat what we just made for snack and then do arts and crafts and other activities before lunch. We’ll listen to stories during lunch, and then enjoy free play or outdoor games before pick-up. The Goat Farm is a small family residence that sits on five acres in Southwest Santa Rosa near Sebastopol; it's plenty of room to raise our goats and make our soap but given its "farmette" size our camp size is limited to ten kids. The camp fee includes a t-shirt, craft supplies, cooking projects and snacks. Please send a lunch with your child each day. Monday: Bees and Bugs Cooking project: start yeast bread, bake honey scones Snack: honey scones and butter, fruit Craft: beeswax candles Activity: bug identification and bug bingo Tuesday: In the Garden Cooking project: jam Snack: toast and jam Craft: garden chimes Activity: planting seeds Wednesday: Feathered Friends Cooking project: muffin egg frittatas and baked egg custards Snack: frittatas and melon slices for snack, custards after lunch Craft: paint a birdhouse Activities: collect eggs from the coop and go on a birdwatching expedition Thursday: No Goats, No Glory Cooking project: goat cheese and cajeta (caramel sauce) Snack: goat cheese and crackers, veggies with ranch dip Craft: melt and pour goat milk soap and goat milk lotion Activity: milk a goat; ice cream party (parents welcome) with homemade cajeta
