Our program is different in that there are 8 classes that run Monday-Thursday for 2 consecutive weeks. Each class is 30 minutes long. Friday will be used as a make up day in case a lesson is canceled due to storms. Group Class Learn to Swim Level 3 and up Learn to Swim Level 3&4 This class is for ages 6 and up and includes an exit skill assessment. Students are in the water with the instructor and parents watch from the side. Each class begins with a poolside safety lesson. This class is all about stroke development and stroke improvement. The following skills are covered over the 2 week period: LEVEL 3: Enter water by jumping from the side, Headfirst entry from the side in sitting and kneeling positions (only in pools at least 9 feet deep), Bobbing while moving toward safety, Rotary breathing, Survival float, Back float, Change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back, Tread water, Push off in a streamlined position then begin flutter and dolphin kicks on front, Front crawl and elementary backstroke, Scissors kick. Level 4: Stroke Improvement Headfirst entry from the side in compact and stride positions (only in pools at least 9 feet deep), swim under water, Feet first surface dive, Survival swimming, Front crawl and backstroke turns, Tread water using 2 different kicks, Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly, Push off in a streamlined position and begin flutter and dolphin kicks on back.
