Students learn the fundamentals of jazz theory through analysis of charts and transcribed solos, original composition, and listening. Topics addressed include chord construction, harmonic progressions, chord voicing and extensions, use of diatonic modes, chord substitutions, and other musical devices typical to jazz.
Please note: The ability to read and write music is required. Students must have completed Theory Level 2 or its equivalent, and possess a working knowledge of intervals, triads, major scales, key signatures, rhythms, and treble and bass clefs.
