South Mountain Soccer registration is now by AGE, not grade, in conformance with revised NJ Youth Soccer rules and regulations. Registration is open to players born in the years 2003-2008.
South Mountain Soccer is a recreational soccer program which offers a wide range of opportunity for players at all skill levels in the fall and/or spring seasons. There are no tryouts. Teams are formed randomly and participate in the InterCounty Youth Soccer League (ICYSL) against teams from nearby communities. The ICYSL divisions include U10, U12 and U14 as follows:
- U10 division includes players born in 2007 and 2008 (see note below)
- U12 division includes players born in 2005 and 2006
- U14 division includes players born in 2003 and 2004
Each season is approximately 10 weeks long and includes professional training one day a week and a game each weekend. There are no tryouts for this program. Children are registered in the age appropriate division.
Each team will play 9-10 games in a season. Home games in South Orange and away games in nearby communities on Saturday or Sunday, depending on field availability. PLEASE NOTE: If registration for U10 (grades 3-4) is sufficient, consideration will be given to forming an in-town South Mountain Soccer league for U10 teams ONLY.
Registration for the fall season of South Mountain Soccer begins July 1st. The registration deadline is July 15th or when the program is fully enrolled, whichever comes first. EARLY REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED as some divisions fill quickly.
Residents are encouraged to place their name on the waiting list if/when the program is fully enrolled. If sufficient numbers warrant, additional teams will be created and those on the waiting list will be contacted.
