Spanish Immersion through Art, Music & Movement Spark your child’s academic and social learning centers by introducing a new language through art projects, music, and movement! Sing-A-Long with Maestra Maria as she plays guitar or ukulele. Learn the words for animal poses, movement verbs while practicing Yoga inspired games in Spanish. We provide a stimulating environment of games, traditional songs, and unique art projects to promote early language comprehension in your child. Over the course of our camp, students will be exposed to new vocabulary through dynamic modes of self-expression in an authentic, immersion environment. Our expert, bilingual staff are trained both in fine art and in making language-learning a fun and interactive experience! Ages: 7 - 13 A Typical Day in Saturday Camp: 9:00 - 10:00am - Yoga in Spanish 10:00 - 10:30: Read and practice new vocabulary 10:30 - 11:30: Traditional Art Project 11:30 - 12:00: Sing-a-long to traditional songs (teach plays guitar or ukulele) 12:00 - 1:00: Capoeira in Spanish Individual Classes: 1.Yoga 9-10 2. Capoeira 12 - 1pm Teacher Bios: María Coutinho of Dragonfly Designs, originally from Mexico City, has worked as a freelance photographer and designer after receiving a degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla. She has assisted renowned Mexican photographers all around the world and spends her free time as a singer/songwriter. Her teaching philosophy is to create a community of love and understanding because kids understand better than we do that life should be enjoyed to the fullest. Armando Ibarra of Dragonfly Designs is known as “Baqueta” for his length and lean movements has been studying for over a decade with Omulu Capoeira under the direction of well known, Mestre Preguica. His dedication to the art of Capoeira and Afro-Brasilian culture has cultivated a deep commitment to arts programming for youth.
