Bio: Carol Pharo, Ballet Club instructor, trained in ballet and modern dance with teachers in the U.S., England, and The Netherlands. She has a Licentiate Diploma in Historical Dance from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and a Masters in Harpsichord and Historical Dance from New England Conservatory. Ms. Pharo is also certified as an instructor for the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis movement systems, which have been very influential in her approach to training young dancers. Ms. Pharo trained children for Royal Academy of Dancing (R.A.D.) examinations in The Netherlands, and is eager to bring R.A.D. training to her classes at YSCP. Carol Pharo has taught ballet at The International School of Amsterdam and Balletschool de Toverfluit in Amsterdam, as well as for The Arts Conservatory, the Academy of the Performing Arts, Ballet at The Music Academy, and the Friends School in State College. Ms. Pharo is the Artistic and Executive Director of The Music Academy. YSCP Ballet Club: Ballet classes in two age-groups will be offered on Thursdays for grades K-1 during Session 1 (3:50-4:30 pm) and grades 3-5 during Session 2 (4:30-5:15 pm). Older children will be encouraged to partner and mentor younger ones as all explore the physical discipline and the aesthetic satisfaction of classical ballet. Each class has a creative component, as well, with live music accompaniment, which will encourage personal growth and artistic expression.
