About This Activity

Our MTB CAMP Program - Monday through Friday 9:00 - 12:30. Programs are led by TSSCC trained and First Aid certified coaches with the help of assistant coaches. All Programs will begin and end with a bicycle/equipment safety check and warm up routine. -Level 1: Braking, shifting gears, getting on and off the bike safely, basic body positions (level pedals, chicken elbows), balance. Rides include various routes in Town Park, and various routes on the River Trail and Valley Floor. -Level 2: More body position, negotiating turns and small drops, more balance, getting on and off the bike safely in a pinch. Rides include variations on the Valley Floor, Village Trail, Juraissic and Meadows Trails, Galloping Goose, Railroad Grade to Illium. -Level 3: Body position, negotiating hairpin turns and drops, more balance, cornering, moving the bike beneath you, line. Rides include those mentioned for Level II riders with the addition of Prospect. Meeting and Pick Up: We will meet at TSSC HQ, base of lift 7 at 9:00 am Monday through Friday. We finish daily programming each day at 12:30 and pick up is in the same place. Equipment: Make sure your athlete has a rain jacket, snacks, water, helmet, sunglasses, sunscreen and a bike! Look over your athlete's bike this week and if it needs a tune-up take it to Max at the BootDoctors this week. Look to see that it shifts, the brakes work properly, the chain is lubed and the tires have air. We ride hard! We will help athletes with basic bike maintenance at camp. Please pack snacks to fit in a camelback versus big backpack. We try to encourage our athletes to carry their own snacks, water and layers in their own camelbacks, but can help if it's too much. Coaches: Max Cooper and Jesse James McTigue started Telluride Mountain Bike Camp and a middle and high school fall team last year. They will be helping this Summer but not available for every camp session. This Summer Zak Watkins and I will be coaching and other
