DescriptionScience is more than a subject. It’s part of everything we do. The more we understand, the more we can appreciate and conserve our natural world. April 26: Spring Why do we have seasons? What changes occur during this vibrant time of year? We'll look at the transformation from winter to spring with an investigation into germinating plants, animals whose coats change color, the increase of the river's flow, and more. May 3: Simple Machines We'll look at the mechanical advantage provided by simple machines like levels, pulleys, and gears. Following these principles, we'll use what we learn to build a variety of optimized gadgets. May 10: Eggcellent Science From walking on eggshells to understanding the life cyle, we'll eggperiment and learn all about eggs. Come find out how interesting your breakfast can be. May 17: Solar Power Science is more than a subject. It’s part of everything we do. The more we understand, the more we can appreciate and conserve our natural world. Join us for one or all of six MAD LABS taking place on Tuesday afternoons for hands-on, scientific activities that will encourage kids to experiment, learn, design, create, investigate, and more. Get your lab coats ready – we are going to get mad in our lab! A Pinhead Institute representative will be available to walk kids to Pinhead HQ from the Telluride Elementary School. May 24: Math We'll use to power of mathematics to investigate things both big and small. Looking around, we'll discover how this essential tool to understanding is able to express the wonders of nature - from the shapes of spirals and ferns to wave patterns. May 31: Fire From the chemistry of combustion to forest health, we'll look at how fire has shaped human evolution and how we continue to interact with it today. We'll also practice how to be safe around fire.
