MONDAY MARCH 14 Morning - Ships of Canada: The Bluenose This morning students will learn the history of the world's fastest sailing ship and create a relief collage using painted paper and vintage maps. Afternoon - Canadian Birds Celebrating the blue jay, loon, canadian goose and more, Students will create a 3 dimensional painting using model magic and ink washes. TUESDAY MARCH 15 Morning - Canadian Critters Bring Canadian wildlife into your home! Students will design and construct iconic Canadian critters that can move! Afternoon - Arctic Oceans Inspired by artist \david Blackwood, students will create fantastical depictions of Canadian life above and below the ocean. We will use white medium on dark paper and explore the use of negative and positive space. WEDNESDAY MARCH 16 Morning - Riding the Rails! Connecting our country by rail changed our nation and unified our country. Students will draw inspiration from vintage promotional images and create their own using pen and ink wash. Afternoon - Prints of the North Inspired by artist Kenojuak Ashevak, one of the most notable Canadian pioneers of modern Inuit art, students will create reduction prints focusing on Arctic animals and imagery. THURSDAY MARCH 17 Morning - Wonders of Canada: Lake Louise Using acrylic on canvas, students will incorporate stencils and masking techniques to paint this tranquil turquoise gem of a lake. Afternoon - Canadian Cities: Skyline Shadow Boxes We will create layered cityscapes of major Canadian cities using acrylic paint, handmade papers, and visual tricks. FRIDAY MARCH 18 Morning - Young Explorers Where would you go explore in your own canoe? Using fimo and cardboard, students will create miniature models of themselves and the vessels that will take them there. Afternoon - Western Landscapes Rural Canada creates a colourful patchwork tapestry that provides a rich playground for artists. We will explore the use of linear perspective to create textured landscape c
