About This Activity

This course introduces students to space manipulators, manipulator design, spacecraft attitude determination and control systems (ADCS), guidance, navigation and control (GNC), and machine vision. Students will solve robotic problems using the analytic tools PYTHON and SIMULINK. In addition, they will use MATLAB to create image processing software. Throughout the course, students will be divided into teams and learn principles of manipulator kinematics, mechatronics, gearbox design, control design and simulation, mechanical and electronic hardware assembly, and microcontroller programming. At the end of the course, students will have built a 4‐degrees‐of‐freedom (DOF) robotic manipulator to solve a real‐world engineering problem.
