About This Activity

This course will introduce students to the basic principles of innovation and design for surgery instruments and equipment. Students will learn how to apply the engineering design process and gain an appreciation for the successes and challenges faced by biomedical engineers. By solving a variety of engineering design challenges in surgery, they will learn to be innovative and critical thinkers. Students will also have the opportunity to visit and tour a simulation centre used in training physicians, surgeons, allied health professionals, and researchers.
