Instructor(s): Sophia LaMontagne | Sam Levy Curriculum Overview: Project: “Dancing Colors!” Students will listen to different types of music (fast, slow, happy, calm) and paint what the music feels like. They’ll use large paper, bright colors, and a variety of tools — brushes, cotton balls, cardboard edges, and more — to create playful, expressive paintings. Skill-Building: Exploring how movement affects artmaking. Identifying warm and cool colors and how they convey certain feelings. Practicing brush control and composition in a fun, loose way. Creative Exploration: Students rotate through three stations: Color & Motion Station: Paint to music using wide arm movements. Line Dancing Station: Draw long, swirling lines on a shared mural paper. Shape Shuffle Station: Use cut-out shapes to make “dancing” paper collages that show movement. Reflection & Sharing: Students circle up and share their favorite piece or describe how their art “danced.” The day ends with a quick “Gallery Walk” where they display their work for classmates to see.
