In 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to set foot on the Moon. When we to return astronauts to the moon, we need to prepare for the first woman to set foot on the moon. Working in teams, this Girl Power program will take future scientists and engineers through the process of designing prototypes of what will be needed for the return to the moon. It will also feature a videoconference with Dr. Ryan Clegg-Watkins, a University researcher who studies the moon and hopes to be a future astronaut. Activities for the day include: Virtual Field Trip to the Moon! Be a part of the Navigation, Geology, Medical, Engineering or Ecology team. Design a spacesuit for your doll or stuffed animal that will make it safe and very cool for them to live in space! Design a Spacecraft / Lunar Module We need a new spacecraft to get us to the moon …. and back. Design a Lunar Habitat: Once we get to the moon, we need a safe, comfortable place to live, work and play. Lunar Treasure Hunt & Moon Party!
