What: GonnawannaBAKEagin' Are sports not for you? This cooking class will focus on understanding basic kitchen safety and hygiene all while creating delicious treats to sell at FACT’s Fall Family Fun Day. Cooking Class runs for 8 Tuesday nights with the additional Bake Sale occurring on the day of FACT's Trunk-or-Treat Event (TBD). Bakers will focus on baking & creating a variety of treats and following a recipe in this cooking class. Who: Participants w/ ASD who are 13 and older Prior baking experience is not necessary- all ability levels are welcome, however FACT baking programs are recommended for students with receptive language skills enough to follow simple single step directions and attempt to imitate actions. Baking is staffed on a 1:4/5 ratio (1 staff per 4 or 5 participants). Participants must be able to understand and respect the use of kitchen equipment (sharp objects) and tight spaces. Space is limited and participants must have the ability to remain safe with kitchen utensils. Where: FACT Autism Resource Center 3509 Virginia Beach Blvd Virginia Beach, VA 23452 When: 8 Tuesday Evenings Cost: There is a one-time registration fee of $120 Cooking will be offered at a flat fee with no discounts. This is due to the cost of supplies and food required for our bakers to be successful each week. The price will include a cooking apron, recipe book, and an assortment of baked goodies.
