Baylor TIP Camp is primarily residential, but families may select a day camp option. Students will stay in the dorms with Resident Assistants Sunday night through Friday nights, going home Saturday morning. Course offerings will run from 9am to 4pm, and social events and activities will be held every evening. Meals are included with registration. Students who elect to commute to camp will have the option of participating in the breakfast and staying for evening activities if they choose. Students must have been admitted to Baylor TIP to enroll. Level: TIP Lyceum Engineering: From Calculation to Construction This a 2 week course that includes weekend programming for residential students. Engineers use math skills and the principles of physics to understand problems and create solutions. They develop models, predict results, and solve societal problems by building and constructing. You’ll use this two-week course to expand your knowledge and understanding of mathematical-based problem solving. You’ll demonstrate your skills as you perform multiple iterations of different design projects, such as constructing bridges, catapults, mousetrap cars, linear parabolic reflectors, and model rockets. You will also analyze relevant historical engineering failures to better understand the engineering principles at work, what went wrong, and how improvements occurred. Students must have completed Algebra I and will be doing math skills to include parabolas, quadratic equations, and trigonometry. Students will need to bring a fully charged scientific calculator other than their phone; TI-84 is preferred but not required.
