About This Activity

Students in this class will work on the proper technique to make lasting Paper Mache creations. Recycling newspapers as art materials, we can help save natural resources and landfill space and create a unique piece of art. Please note – paper mache is messy business! Students in this class should bring an old shirt to protect their clothes. With step by step instructions, students can imagine and create a snake or spider sculpture any way they like it, they can make it chubby or skinny, curly or straight, add legs and you have a gecko! Working on design, this class will include drawing and design, making paper mache to work in 3D forms, painting and glazing. A snake or spider that will not bite, hiss, wriggle or slither - it will be fun! The week 2 class will be open to students in grades 4 & 5 and for students in grades 2 and 3 who completed week 1. Instructor: Sofia Gawer-Fische
