We're sorry, but this class is over. The last meeting was Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
(Ages 6 - 13)
Based on the models offered by most of the youth orchestra programs in the US, these introductory classes help young students (strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion) develop note reading and ensemble skills.
Course materials and music is determined by the instrumentation of the enrolled students. The young musicians study a wide variety of musical styles from classical to jazz, prepare three concert programs throughout the year, and repeat each program in two performances: one in the Lang Recital Hall at Levine's NWDC campus and another at Levine's Maryland campus at Strathmore.
Please consider the performance dates when enrolling: performances are scheduled at 7:00pm on Saturdays and Tuesdays in November 2016, February/March 2017, and April/May 2017 (exact dates to be announced).
Please note: An audition is required. Because of the intensity of this program, regular attendance is required. At least one year of private lessons and the ability to read music is required. For string players, skills in vibrato and shifting are not required.
For more information and to schedule an audition, please contact Vasily Popov, Chamber Music Program Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Receive a $30 discount when you are enrolled in private lessons and this ensemble!
