About This Activity

Description

We're sorry, but this class is over. The last meeting was Saturday, June 24, 2017.

(Ages 8 - 12)

The study of music theory is important to any comprehensive musical education, as theory introduces students to the basic elements and notational conventions of music. This course begins with music fundamentals, reading notes on the staff, clapping rhythms, simple music dictation, and understanding simple musical forms. Students participate in group singing activities to develop their sight singing skills. Designed to help students improve music literacy and sight reading skills, this course provides the building blocks of musical grammar to provide the foundation for further explorations in harmony, history, counterpoint, and analysis.
