This workday is at Blackwell Native Plant Nursery. You will receive directions to the site with your registration receipt.
Dress in layers and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants and long-sleeved shirts. Flip-flops, sandals and open-toed shoes are not allowed. You may be working in thorny, brushy areas or around poisonous plants, so do not wear shorts. Bring water and if possible bring your own work gloves.
We try to maintain a ratio of at least two volunteers per steward or employee. If this ratio isn't met, the steward or employee will determine if the workday can safely proceed.
Volunteers under 18 cannot attend workdays alone. Below are our minimum requirements.
Ages 8 - 10: One adult for every two children
Ages 11 - 13: One adult for every eight children
Ages 14 - 17: One adult for every 10 teens (We encourage high school students to volunteer in groups of two or more.)
Workdays cannot be applied to court-ordered community service. For these types of service projects, call the Forest Preserve District's Human Resources department at (630) 933-7682.
