About This Activity

Instructor: Blair Learn from a chess expert and former US Amateur Chess Champion. Beginners through advanced students welcome. Students will be taught in small groups according to their level of play. Detailed lesson plans will cover opening strategies for queen and king pawn; basic and advanced middle-game tactics; endgame strategy; and chess notation. Students will be well-prepared for tournament play. Parents are welcomed to observe the class. David Blair has taught for 19 years and is currently USCF rated 1950 and FIDE (internationally) rated 2010. He mentored a Denker Open National Champion, who won a full 4-year college scholarship, and for 4 years was the coach for 2012 National High School Champion Kaustubh Nimkar (7-0 score, K-12 U1200).
