About This Activity

Join Heather Moir, former Education Chair Forsyth Audubon Society and Summit 4th grade teacher, on a special bird walk at the Tanglewood’s Yadkin River Trail, a favorite spot for birders. The trail offers views of several different habitats, and thus, opportunity to see a variety of different birds. We are likely to see several different types of woodpeckers and nuthatches. We will check along the Yadkin River for the great blue herons that typically nest along the river. There is always a possibility of pine warblers, yellow-rumped warblers, and perhaps a barred owl. Bird walks are always full of surprises. This walk will be geared towards beginners, and is an excellent activity for grandparents and students to enjoy together. The trail is level and we will move at an easy pace. If you have binoculars, bring them. Wear comfortable shoes. Adult chaperones (free of charge) are required for kids 2nd grade and younger.
