Join us for an exciting artistic adventure through a variety of media, techniques, and styles! Each week, we’ll: • Investigate a famous artist • Create our own masterpieces inspired by the artist’s style • Explore a variety of art techniques such as drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, and collage. • Play with materials such as pencils, ink, paint, glue, and pixels. • Construct our own sketchbooks to use during class and after it ends. Suitable for students working at all levels. Requirements: Bring a snack and a water bottle for breaks. Michal Sommers is the Think Summer Visual Arts Chair. A Visual Arts faculty member at Albuquerque Academy since 2001, she teaches Foundation in Art and beginning through advanced photo, digital, and printmaking classes to 8th-12th grade students. Ms. Sommers’ students have been recognized for their work from local and national levels. Prior to joining Albuquerque Academy, she taught at Rio Rancho High School and UNM. Ms. Sommers worked as a freelance artist and graphic designer on the east coast before moving to New Mexico to pursue her master’s in photography at UNM.
