Show Date: July 30th 8:00pm at LTA. This eight-week intensive class will help you continue to build off of the knowledge and experience gained from performing in front of an audience. This class will be a hybrid of short-form/long-form improv with an opportunity to perform front of an audience. Students will utilize all of their skills as an improviser: listening, building ideas, creating and playing characters, developing strong character points of view, etc. Students can expect to get into the artistry and complexity of long-form which would include pattern pacing, editing, theme development, ensemble connections, finding the game, establishing compelling platforms, heightening, making narrative connections and much more. Performance date is scheduled for July 30th; however, may change based on venue availability. Completion of the previous intensive class or permission of the instructor is required. INSTRUCTOR BIO: KEELY KIRK stepped into the improv abyss at a tender age and found a place to be herself. She began training with Mental Floss, a Miami-based improv/sketch troupe which performed at the Coconut Grove Playhouse until Hurricane Andrew blew it all away. She went on to be a principal performer for over ten years with Laughing Gas Comedy Improv --Miami's longest-running improv theatre company. She then decided that Miami was just too warm and balmy and moved to Chicago (the improv epicenter), where she was involved with and trained with IO (formally Improv Olympics) and Second City. While in Chicago, Keely decided to follow President Obama to Washington D.C., to become his presidential jester; however, due to government cutbacks, she was furloughed. Currently, Keely teaches improv at The Little Theatre of Alexandria. In addition, she performs improv around the country and conducts team-building workshops using the principles of improv with THEY Improv. Keely resides in Northern Virginia with her four-year-old daughter, husband, and dog, Chowder.
